Flannels, Songs and Story Extensions

Activities:
"Captain Kidd Says" (similar to Simon Says)
"Pin the Fin on the Shark" (similar to Pin the Tail on the Donkey)
"Walk the Plank"

A Pirate Went to Sea
A pirate went to sea, sea, sea
To see what he could sea, sea, sea
But all that he could see, see, see
Was the bottom of the deep blue sea, sea, sea

Five Pirates On A Treasure Chest
Five pirates on a treasure chest
One jumped off, and four are left!

(Countdown until:)
No pirate on a treasure chest.
Yo, ho, ho, it's mine, I guess!

Gallant Ship
Three times around went the gallant ship
Three times around went she (spin in circle)
Three times around went the gallant ship
Till she sank to the bottom of the sea (sink down)

“Pull her up,” said the sailor crew
“Pull her up,” said we (pulling motion)
“Pull her up,” said the sailor crew
“Or she’ll sink to the bottom of the sea.” (sink down)

If You're A Pirate and You Know It
If you’re a pirate and you know it, swab the deck.
If you’re a pirate and you know it, swab the deck.
If you’re a pirate and you know it, then you’ll hear the sea winds blowing,
If you’re a pirate and you know it, swab the deck.

If you’re a pirate and you know it, walk the plank…
If you’re a pirate and you know it, just say, “Argh!”

Pirate's Parrot
When you shout out, “Ship ahoy!”
Your parrot shouts out, “Ship ahoy!”
Everything you say and do, your parrot wants to copy you!
(Repeat with climb way up the mast, dance a silly jig, etc.)

P-O-L-L-Y
There was a pirate had a parrot
And Polly was its name-o
P-O-L-L-Y, P-O-L-L-Y, P-O-L-L-Y,
And Polly was its name-o.

Princess Pat
The Princess Pat lived in a tree
She sailed across the seven seas
She sailed across the Channel Two
And brought with her a rick-a-bamboo…

Sail Your Ship
(Tune of “Row Your Boat”)
Sail, sail, sail your ship
Gently out to sea
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
A pirate’s life for me.

So Many Pirate Ships
There are so many pirate ships in the sea
What color pirate ship do you see?
Red, red, this one’s red.

(Repeat, adding more ships, until you reach five)
There are so many pirate ships in the sea
Can you count the ships with me? 1-2-3-4-5

Ten Little Pirates

Ten little pirates stand in a row
They all bow down to the Captain, so
They march to the left
They march to the right
They shout, “Yo-ho-ho” and give their Captain a fright!
